A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Shnoogiepoo
Izzy McNeil has transitioned from corporate law to criminal defense in Laura Caldwell’s latest installment of her Izzy McNeil Mysteries series. She’s now dating Theo Jameson who’s been arrested for “Bernie Madolf type” corporate activity and while Izzy doesn’t quite trust him, she’s determined to stand by her man. There is lots of seemingly unrelated events that, fortunately, in the end tie up nicely on the mystery home front. I found this a difficult read, starting with the fact it’s written in first person narrative and while there was a decent mystery, there was a lot of superfluous fluff and references to incidents that took place in previous books in the series making it an uncomfortable stand alone. It also lacked the Happily-ever-after that I was expecting from the book blurb and tags. In all, while the series seems successful, it wasn’t my cup of tea.

Book Blurb for Question of Trust
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. But what if you can't tell which is which? When attorney Izzy McNeil's home is broken into, right after her boyfriend, Theo, moves in, she ignores the coincidence. When Theo is arrested on charges of fraud, she wants to believe he's innocent. But when a neighbor is found dead, she can't ignore that something is very, very wrong. Izzy also can't forget how Theo was inexplicably turned down for a mortgage. Or his recent moody silences. Or how a stranger warned her that Theo needs to "accept responsibility…" Thrust into Theo's case, Izzy must walk the line between attorney and lover to prove that Theo is innocent. But only Izzy can decide whether trusting Theo will keep her safe…or throw her into unimaginable danger.
