Notes And Roses

Stanford Creek Book 1

“Notes & Roses” by Rozenn (RJ) Scott is an entertaining introduction to a delightful small town family and the members of a music group that they form a relationship with. I was a little disconcerted to discover that this was the first in the series, as I actually read the second book first, and when I read this one, I kept thinking there must be another one before it, given what Cody had been through. I love discovering how close-knit Megan is with her cousins, and seeing how the extended family is woven into the fabric of the town. The protective nature of the males and their begrudging and hard-won acceptance was delicious to read about, and getting glimpses of Cody’s artistic side and the drama in his history added to the suspense in the story. The tension increases nicely and I was compelled to continue reading although I think some things didn’t quite gel as I think a certain person’s behavior would have been gossiped about in such a small milieu. Nonetheless, I think this is a great start to the series and set up the connection to the next story very nicely.

This contemporary romantic suspense story is the first book in the ‘Stanford Creek’ series and follows CJ (Cody) Taylor, who has retreated from the limelight after a horrific experience with a stalker. His unconventional meeting with Megan Campbell makes him determined to overcome her first impression and cautiously attempt to resume a normal life. Unfortunately, history seems determined to repeat itself, and the danger that escalates may take a fatal turn.
