"Chain Reaction," undeniably gave me mixed emotions as I was reading the novel. It was a fun, heart-pulsing action packed book that I would not recommend for the more timid readers. In other words if you are easily offended by explicit content that involves both sexual tension as well as language this story is not for you. In truth I am not so easily offended by such uncensored material, but there were times when enough was far too much. The author, Tara Wyatt could have cut back just a little with the hero being a tough guy, I got the memo from my first introduction.
I really liked the fiery spark of pure adrenaline attraction that both Zack and Alexa shared. It wasn't just about sensual connection it was actually a love-to-the-death type of chemistry. I was excited to find this in a contemporary novel because I find that sometimes the modern era stories can lack chemistry. This story was a true exception and made this book immensely entertaining.
The romance however was a different story as it took a long time to just move forward from attraction to something with much more depth. I was patient, but I have to admit those same patients were really pushed to the limits as I waited for those three letter words to be revealed, thankfully the chemistry more than made up for the lack of actual romance interactions between the duo.
Overall I think "Chain Reaction" is a good kickoff for a new series. It was a treat to read from an author I hadn't meant before and to read a story that pushed the boundaries sometimes a bit too far, but mostly I had so much fun reading this book that I am looking forward to see what is in store for the series in the near future.
