I enjoyed reading Joe Gale's mystery solving escapade. The reader was kept involved in the story throughout the book without having to endure too many details on scene setting and character building.

A high profile murder in Machias, Maine has newspaper reporter Joe Gale who was assigned to report on the case reeking with corruption of sorts, from the community already painting a guilty verdict on the defendant to even the prosecutor having connections with the family.

Joe Gale is a newspaper reporter for the Portland Daily Chronicle is in Machias, Maine to report on the murder case of Frank O'Rourke. This is a high profile case as Frank's elder brother - Edmond J. O’Rourke’s the Speaker of the Maine House of Representatives. Frank had been killed previous May, he was stabbed to death by a fisherman, Danny Boothby who whilst investigating a child neglect case. Frank had been investigating Danny in which there were claims that his twelve-year old daughter was being neglected. Joe Gale is facing an uphill battle in covering this murder case from the residents, folks in high profile positions and even senior management at the Portland Daily Chronicle. However, Joe stuck to his mission and was able to report on the actual truth about this murder case.
