Chocolate Dipped Death

Candy Shop Series, #2

Abby Shaw, owner of the Divinity Candy Shop, has always been known for finding trouble at her doorstep. She left the corporate world behind when she inherited her Aunt Grace’s candy shop to live in the sleepy little town of Paradise, Colorado. Divinity is hosting its Annual Confectionary Competition and the drama has already begun. Savannah Horne, the town vixen, has returned to Paradise after a lengthy departure and entered the competition while ruffling a few feathers among the town’s population. Savannah is suddenly found murdered after a heated argument with another contestant and Abby is pulled into another murder investigation, which may put her in jeopardy as well.

This is the second novel in the Candy Shop Mysteries and it has been a while since I have read the first one and I had to reacquaint myself with the characters in this series. Abby left the big city and a cheating husband to take over her aunt’s candy shop and settle back home in Paradise, Colorado. I liked Abby for the most part, but it always seemed that she was in argument with other family members about the business or some other personal issue. I think it would be exhausting fighting with everyone and trying to run a business at the same time. This was a pretty predictable mystery and I wasn’t surprised at the revelation of the killer. I was just surprised about the motive of the murder in the first place.
