Clare goes to Washington DC to help the Village Blend cafe turn a profit. She finally figures out why it's not turning a profit, but she's unable to correct the problem: one chef's attitude about food! But it could soon change as the President's Daughter is a wonderful musician and a great draw on open mike night. She is offered a permanent status working with the loves of her life: jazz and Stanley McGuire. But before she can accept, Abby has a few things to correct. Her mother is under the impression Abby will be married soon to an exceptional political candidate and won't have time to be a musician.
In the meantime, a State Department employee dies in Village Blend's kitchen; while a White House employee is poisoned with a cup of coffee on Clare's night at the Smithsonian. Clare is up to her eyeballs trying to figure everything out and finding a flash drive with pertinent information that is causing people to be murdered. And it doesn't help when Abby and Stan go missing and Clare is blamed for all of it.
So goes the tale of a coffeehouse in DC. This story is fun and interesting from the start! Tons of historical information, a quirky cast of characters, and lots of unanswered questions keep the reader entertained. Or it's "Dead to the Last Drop", in this tasteful case of murder.

Unfortunately, Clare's new Village Blend DC is struggling to earn a profit--until its second floor jazz club attracts a high-profile fan, the college-age daughter of the U.S. President. Clare's stock rises as the First Lady befriends her, but she soon learns a stark lesson: Washington can be murder.
