Lisa Q. Mathews introduces a wonderful sleuthing team in this cozy mystery. Summer Smythe has a light-hearted, warm-hearted larger than life personality residing under her tiny bikini. She has a tone of financial worries and is nowhere at all where she thinks she should be in her life but she has an inner optimistic glow. Dorothy Westin has seen a lot in her life and she believes in her gut and I love how she believes in and befriends Summer. They make an odd pairing but are extremely well-suited and a seemingly good influence on one another. Dorothy grounds Summer and Summer helps Dorothy embrace life. It was lovely watching their friendship bloom and the relationship grow. The mystery is unique and the setting is entertaining and appealing. The supporting characters were amusing and appealing and it was fun to wait and see what they would do next. I enjoyed the dynamic between these two women who are so different and yet so akin where it truly matters. I cannot wait to see what these two ladies will get up to next. I hope this is the beginning of a lengthy association because I eagerly await the next investigation they get involved in. If you're a fan of a fun cozy this is a must-read.
Hibiscus Pointe in upscale Milano Florida will never be the same when Summer Smythe moves in. Many of the tenants dislike her youth and her bikini clad body. The resentment grows when on her first day of work her employer, a beloved local doctor, ends up dead. Dorothy Westin is a patient and resident who believes Summer is innocent and she's determined to help the young woman. Now it's up to these ladies to catch a killer before becoming the next victims.
When a man falls at your feet, you'd better hope he's not dead
Twentysomething party girl Summer Smythe is starting over in the unlikeliest of places: Hibiscus Pointe, a kitschy retirement community in upscale Milano, Florida. Her new gig? Working for Dr. A, Milano's much-loved cardiologist. But being in over her head is the least of Summer's worries when her new boss drops dead…right in front of her.
Longtime resident Dorothy Westin prefers to mind her own business. But when the young blonde already causing ripples throughout Hibiscus Pointe becomes a person of interest in Dr. A's murder, Dorothy springs into action. Not only because the real killer is still on the loose, but because there's simply no way her clueless-but-kind new friend could have poisoned someone.
Dorothy and Summer soon discover that despite his chosen specialty, Dr. A had quite a reputation for breaking hearts. And if the Ladies Smythe and Westin don't identify the guilty party fast, Summer will end up in handcuffs…and Dorothy in a body bag.
