A. Gardner dishes up another delicious delicacy with this cozy sequel. Poppy Peters is thoroughly engaging as she adjusts to her training in Paris. Poppy hasn't changed since we've last seen her and it's enjoyable to see her dealing with once again being out of her element. I love her determination and her dedication, especially when she is doing repetitive tasks she's not too happy at. It was interesting to see her deal with some international shenanigans and embroiled once again in a murder mystery. Her coworkers are an interesting ensemble and I enjoyed getting to know them so well and seeing behind the initial impressions. I liked how I got to see Paris through her eyes and how realistic it was that she didn't see much of the city as she spent so much time working. I will admit to missing Polly's two Culinary school cohorts as I was truly hoping to see if friendship might blossom into something more. I am however super exciting about the next adventure Polly will have as I think her next semester at school offers great promise. And did I mention recipes are included -- yummy! If you are a fan of tasty mysteries that showcase delectable desserts and a strong heroine this is one to pick up.
After winning her Pastry school contest it is now time for Poppy Peters to intern in Paris for a world renowned pastry chef. Her newly found confidences in her abilities takes a knock after completing her first task and she finds out that being an intern isn't as glamorous as she thought. Instead of learning how to make intricate delicacies she is once again involved in a murder mystery. Can she win over her coworkers and her mentor while not becoming a victim of a killer?
When Poppy Peters takes an internship in Paris working for a top pastry chef, she realizes that bakery life isn't all cupcakes and frosting. The sous pastry chef dislikes foreigners, her mentor only speaks French, and to top that all off she finds the groom of the wedding she's catering dead in his own backyard. But Lord Dovington wasn't just a handsome royal waiting to sweep his bride-to-be off of her feet. He was also a well-known playboy with a long line of vengeful exes.
Now, as one of the prime suspects, Poppy must prove she's innocent . . . and that her recipe for chocolate macaroons isn't to blame. But the clock is ticking, and with a missing diamond, a break-in, and a hot batch of reporters on her tail, Poppy has a lot of sifting to do. Will she find the killer before she too gets baked?
